When we’re kids in geography class, it’s hard to wrap our heads around how HUGE blocks of ice can influence and shape the land over millions of years.
Flying to SE Ohio and Kentucky, it’s one of the things my first instructor pointed out to me, and now I share with my passengers, how the “mountains” give way to fertile farmland valleys and then the Ohio river. Unfortunately you still get the occasional person who’s disappointed there’s no “giant block of ice” to see.
